28 Days Later turns out to be a fairly good horror movie, I like it very much. The thing I liked best about this movie was the terrific atmosphere. From the shots of totally deserted cities to the desolate manor later in the movie, “28 Days Later” really succeeded in creating a dark and creepy atmosphere. In addition, there were some good scary moments and some gore in the movie, but it never goes too far and degenerated into a hack-fest.
The plot is very good too. Although it borrows from other sources, it’s good enough to carry the movie and has a couple of unexpected twists. It’s also a lot darker than other movies. I also like the fact that the movie gives you just enough information to figure out what is going on, instead of boring you with long explanations that ultimately only undermine the credibility.
In a word, the director and the actors do a fine job to make a good movie. 28 Days Later is of course worth watching, if you are looking for some well organized horror movies.
This movie was excellent! Just as visually interesting as Sin City, and with the same delicious feel as other Milla films such as The Fifth Element. The colors and texture is cinematic art. The director’s vision came across as amazing on the screen.
As a fan of Milla Jovovich, I thought the action was a befitting style for her. The character was well rounded, even if the relationship between Violet and Six seemed forced and awkward at times. I felt the characters, especially the homophobes were very interesting and the character Garth’s relationship with Violet was helpful.
Overall, I was impressed with this film. The feeling, look, and story were all in good taste. The director has created an excellent work of art. I was excited by the action, I felt sorrowful during the emotional aspect of the film, and I did root for Violet through the entire movie. The film is perfect!
The Hills have Eyes turns out to be one of my favorite horror movies. It tells a story like this. A cross country road trip turns bad when the family is left stranded in New Mexico, miles from civilization. A clan of genetic mutants, with a thirst for blood is watching them, planning their attack on the unsuspecting family.
The cast all portray the terror of the situation very convincingly, and the character evolution runs nicely alongside the story and the events within it. The Direction captures the tension and the sheer brutality of the plot effortlessly and this, coupled with the realistic and stomach churning visuals, heightens the impact of movie very effectively.
In my opinion, The Hills have Eyes is a very gruesome and spine chilling horror flick that surpasses the original made by Wes Craven. The characters are very well fleshed out before the carnage begins, and it really helps to bring a real sense of compassion for the impending victims. It is a good movie, you should watch it yourself, and then you will understand what I am talking about.
I enjoyed good comedy TVs years ago, and I wished that the movie was as good as the TV. But this one had something missing. I watched “Get Smart” on DVD but scarcely raised a laugh. There were lots of actions but no substances. Most of the scenes are forgettable. The dance with the fat lady led to nothing. Slightly amusing was the secret service agent Max seeking something hot from a street stall bakery. Then he was eavesdropping listening to a couple of Russians while making staccato squirts into a urinal, stopping and starting as he listened to their plotting. At least that episode was original. Perhaps the most exciting sequence was secret service agents getting tangled in a banner flying high in the sky “Suicide. Don’t do it”. Over all the effects were quite well done, but the story was no more than a collection of unrelated adventures. The actors were easy on the eyes but deserve better. Sometimes I think that the actors get more fun out of the so-called comedy than the paying audience. In a word, I was extremely disappointed.
Step Brothers is really a funny movie. I haven’t seen any a movie that were actually hilarious this year. Step Brothers came a long way and I could not help stopping laughing at some scenes. Will Ferrell is great. No doubt about it. He was very loud and rude, as usual, which made it very funny. John C Reilly was also a funny guy. The way Reilly and Ferrell work together was brilliant. It was terrible, childish and loud, but that was exactly what made this movie so funny.
Step Brothers tells a story about 2 guys in their 40s-one of them living with his divorced dad, the other living with his divorced mom. The mom and the dad meet, fall in love, and then decide to live together. The 2 guys become step brothers this way, and childish as they are, they don’t get along well at all at the very beginning. Some funny stories happen, and all cause me to laugh. You should watch it if you are looking for something really funny.
The Ant Bully is an excellent movie from the director-Jimmy Neutron, with a decent plot which will keep parents entertained, even if the lack of slapstick in the movie might leave their kids fidgeting occasionally. Initially the animation seems quite flat, but the film really takes off when Lucas is shrunk and taken back to the colony. The interior of the colony is like some incredible Martian landscape, and there are some amazing scenes of ant life. As for me, the standout scene in Jimmy Neutron was the one in which the kids blast off into space on the fairground rides Jimmy has adapted for spaceflight. There are two similarly awesome scenes in Ant Bully: the scene in which the wasps attack the ants’ nest (which reminded me of the final battle in Attack of the Clones), and the one in which the ants fly into battle against the Exterminator on the wasps backs, are two of the most thrilling scenes I have seen in an animated movie. All in all, The Ant Bully is a great film for parents to take their kids to if they want them to see a film with a decent story, rather than just a series of gags and pop culture references strung together. It also has a great musical score. Watch it right away, and you won’t be disappointed.
The second best reporter of Kazakhstan, Borat Sagdiyev (Sacha Baron Cohen), and his producer Azamat Bagatov (Ken Davitian) are sent by the Ministry of Culture of his country to New York, to prepare a documentary about “The American Way of Life”. Once in the Apple City, Borat sees an episode of “Baywatch” and falls in love for Pamela Anderson. He lures his producer and convinces him to travel to California to achieve better interviews. Along his road trip, Borat has good and bad experiences with the North American people.
Borat is one of the funniest and most hilarious comedies I have ever seen. The original story has many low level and politically incorrect jokes, and may be unpleasant for intellectuals, Jews and people from Kazakhstan, not necessarily in this order. I saw the trailer of this film and immediately watched the DVD, and I laughed so much that I started coughing and need to have a break. I have just included this film in my storage as one of my favorites ever. If you open-minded and enjoy jokes, most of them offensive to conservative people and some minorities, you will love this film; otherwise, why spending your time?
I like The Gospel very much. It tells a story about African American church. I really enjoyed this movie. The music of the movie was wonderful and the story line was great. I suggest that everyone see this movie. The actors were great, and the story of the prodigal son returning is what it reminds me of. We all fall away at some time, but we can all return and get back where we need to be. Take the time and watch this movie because it is worth watching. This is a movie that you can watch with your children and your parents without being embarrassed. The music is so uplifting that I download the soundtrack from the internet. I have never done this before, but this movie was great and the music was great. I can’t get the music out of my head. Watch it, and I am sure you will like it too.
To be frank, I do not like this movie very much. It has a lot of problems needing improvement. The main problem with The Fog, which is probably because I have seen too many horror films, is that it is easily the most predictable movie I have seen in a while. The film relies on trying loud noises and sudden images to frighten you. The problem is that it doesn’t pull it off. Every one of them I knew was coming, and I could actually snap my fingers to cue it. Some horrors are good at adding a sudden loud noise or frightening image that wasn’t expected. So they are scary, this movie is far from it.
Now I’m not saying it was bad. And the acting may not have been grand but that was more because of the script. I have seen both the main characters on shows like Lost and Smallville, and both have better potential to be explored than this.
The Fog is alright if you want to watch it one night to see what it was like, or just to get the basic gist of it. Watch it, and then you can see what is your feeling about it.
Hide and Seek is a good movie after all, except for the lousy ending which part I do not like. It is great at scaring you psychologically and really kicks up the suspense meter. It is difficult to keep yourself about 1 hour and 15 minutes into the movie because there are some problems in the film. Right as we get to the big plot twist, it goes all wrong. The twist in itself is very good, one of the best I’ve ever seen, and the problem lies outside of that. And as we learn the big secrete, the movie should have just ended. Stopped right there, we should have seen the credits and moved on with our lives, but they do not. They keep going and end up turning this great film, into a really lousy piece of work. I had to force myself to finish the film. They go so off the path that even the great acting, excellent effects and awesome story line can’t fix the damage that had been done. They literally ruin the movie, making it into stupid American horror film. This movie loss points because of that little glitch. The movie is worth seeing, for sure, but as soon as you come to that fateful scene, watch it, love it and then turn it off. What do you think?
I went to see Hollywood Homicide in spite of the poor reviews because I wanted to see Harrison in a comedy. He did a great job, much better than Six Days Seven Nights (where he was trapped on the island with Anne Heche). Also, some have said the plot is impossible to follow. There is another of the reasons I decided to go often when people state this and give a movie a low rating, they are blaming the movie for their own lack of mental dexterity. The plot was not hard to follow, though it did zip right along. Josh Harnet and Harrison Ford played off each other well, and their interaction was interesting and funny. I had never seen Josh before, and was impressed. No one will get an academy award, but as a light hearted summer action-comedy, it’s a fine way to spend a rainy afternoon.
There are a lot of pros and cons in this new film. This movie is awesome, but be prepared for a lot of action and not too much in the end result. It is hard to follow at points, and is definitely set up as a sequel as part of a trilogy. Liked the movie overall, enjoyed the action, the love, the humor, and of course Captain Jack Sparrow. The ending has a little surprise too, which I really enjoyed. I think the first one was better, but this film was definitely worth seeing and I wouldn’t mind seeing it again. If you appreciate the overall story of “The Pirates of the Caribbean,” then you will also appreciate this film. It definitely does its job as part of a trilogy, and opens the door for a grand finale in the third movie. The acting was also supreme, and the amount of interesting and exciting action scenes added a lot of quality effect. Davy Jones’ crew adds to the story much like Captain Barbosa’s crew of the damned added to the first film. Once again, it did leave the door pretty wide open for the third movie in the series. I definitely would of liked to find out at least a little more background information and description about why certain events took place, but I guess that’s why we have to see the third one. Good flick overall, and very entertaining. If you have not seen it before, I strongly recommended you to have a go.
I have to say how much I enjoyed this film. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. The title of the film suggests the type of over-the-top brainless, sexist film which conforms to all the clichéd “porkys” elements that came before it. But it’s not. The film has real subtle warmth about it. The leading performers all have an under-stated likability about them. I liked the improvised dialogue that Ben and his stoner friends used during their scenes. It gave each of their characters their own individuality, each being able to hold his/her own screen presence. A friend of mine said the film was completely sexist because if the roles were reversed and it was a hot, successful guy who got an over-weight slacker girl pregnant the film would be more like Fatal Attraction than an easy going comedy. I suppose there is a point to be made there but sometimes you should appreciate something for what it is. This is obviously no Citizen Kane and I don’t think it’s ever attempting to be, but likewise when you go to Burger King you don’t expect French fries and caviar. To finish, this is not a laugh out loud comedy, however, if you’ve got a couple of hours to kill and you feel like watching something, this picture is for you.
The movie is a standard American movie. It’s about Bob Lee Swagger, a sniper (pretty good one) who is sent in a mission to protect a convoy that retreats from mission. The mission goes wrong for Swagger and the army is leaving him there. Three years from this, Mark Wahlberg(Swagger) is called again in a mission for the army… Things go very bad. From then the movie transforms in “we kill everybody” movie.
Swagger is practically invincible. I like the scenes, when the camera shows Swagger in slow motion just after killing or destroying building. As I said above, this is another pure American movie…the ending is interesting…It is a good movie, so go ahead and prepare the popcorn.
This movie has a lot of guesses and it manages to go beyond that, when it comes to a murder mystery. The film starts with Journalist Rowena (Halle Berry) who’s best friend is murdered. Rowena remembered the last time they talked-she was sort of involved with Harrison Hill (Bruce Willis) a married business man, who she was hoping to bring down. With the help of her friend Miles (Giovanni Ribisi), Rowena goes undercover in Harrison’s company, in hopes to uncover the truth, and flush out a killer. But in a mystery has every twist and turn gets reveled, the one that will shock you the most is what lies in the heart of the matter. Halle Berry and Bruce Willis were great in this surprising good thriller. So was Giovanni Ribisi. Go and see it, and you will love it too.
