This movie wasn’t great but it was enjoyable. I’m not quite interested in Patrick Dempsey who has made his acquaintance as a TV actor. What I am trying to say is that the movie is just OK but could have been much better if the director can have someone like Owen Wilson or Vince Vaughn as the lead role, both of whom are much more adept to the style of comedy. By the way I enjoyed their movies very much. I did like how there wasn’t very much “cheese” considering it’s a romantic comedy but some of the storyline is very unrealistic in terms of real life. Women will thoroughly enjoy it while guys will be indifferent. For all the guys who will take their girl to see it, Michelle Monaghan is great eye candy.
The story tells a story about a man, Tom Bailey who is in love with his best friend Claire. But Tom has a fear of commitment and refuses to admit the obvious affection. When Colin, a rich Scotsman sweeps Claire off her feet and asks for her hand in marriage, Tom must witness her unquestioned happiness up close and personal–because she has chosen him to be her Maid Of Honor. It is really out of the normal sense of people. Then of course some really funny scenes showed up one after another.
This is really a funny movie. I showed my great interest to it just as I saw the name of the movie. I could not help laughing as the movie went on. Go to see it, you will absolutely have a happy time there.
There is a beautiful but quiet scene in the animated movie Kung Fu Panda which actually expresses a piece of great wisdom. It reminds us of the art of balancing belief in our work with the illusion of our need for control.
The wise old kung fu tortoise, Master Oogway, is speaking to his disciple, Shifu, a red panda who is charged with training the unlikely Po, a giant panda, to become the next great kung fu Dragon Warrior. They are standing under the Sacred Peach Tree of Heavenly Wisdom. Shifu is at a moment of crisis of faith, unable to see the potential in his overweight, clumsy protege.
Master Oogway points to the peach tree, with its lovely branches and its colorful, plump fruits. He picks up a peach pit, and explains to Shifu: “My friend, the panda will never fulfill his destiny, nor you yours until you let go of the illusion of control. The essence of this seed is to become a peach tree. Within this bumpy, hard-shelled pit is the potential for this entire tree, with its flower blossoms and branches filled with ripe fruit. I can plant the seed in the ground, cover it with soil, and nurture it with water and sunlight. But I cannot make the tree blossom when it suits me nor make it bear fruit before its time.”
Shifu insists, “But there are things we can control: I can control when the fruit will fall, I can control where to plant the seed: that is no illusion, Master!”
Oogway replies, “Ah, yes. But no matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will only get a peach.”
Shifu, anxious to produce a “winner” immediately out of his young Kung Fu Panda, says, “But a peach cannot defeat the evil Tai Lung!”
Master Oogway, while gazing into the starry night, replies, “Maybe it can, if you are willing to guide it, to nurture it, to believe in it. You just need to believe.”
How often in our lives do we try to force an apple or an orange out of something whose essence is a peach? Master Oogway reminds us that we cannot become so attached to an outcome that we imagine in our minds. Everything has an essence – a true nature that is immutable no matter what kind of influence we try to exert.
On the other hand, if we ignore a seed, giving up just because it is ugly on the outside, or seemingly hard and dry without signs of life to give, we may miss the opportunity to create an entire tree, bearing both blossoms and fruit for years to come, and changing the landscape forever. In order for the seed to fulfill its potential as a tree, it must be planted in the ground, covered with soil, and provided water and sunlight. Once we do these things, we must let go and trust nature. We cannot incessantly dig into the ground to check on its progress. We cannot speed up the germination process by force of will. We cannot even guarantee that each seed we planted will take root and survive the full journey to become a fruit-bearing tree.
So why do we plant the seed? Why do we care for it, provide for it, and nurture what we can only believe in our hearts to be its full potential?
If we are only nurturing for the sake of our own egos – to see the resulting apple or orange, which we might prefer over the peach – we will never be satisfied with our work. We will be unhappy even though we may have a beautiful peach, instead of the apple or orange we craved.
We must do the seemingly paradoxical work of nurturing, and believing, and guiding, AND letting go of our need to know what kind of fruit the tree will bear. We may need to accept that some seeds will not survive. Those seeds, once broken down, may serve another purpose that supports the tree, as fertilizer for other seeds, or as food for a passing animal. Every seed is valuable in some way, but not every seed will reach the same potential.
In Kung Fu Panda, Shifu’s grueling training enables his student Po to learn eventually to believe in his own potential, and to find the courage to fulfill his ultimate destiny as Dragon Warrior.
Master Oogway’s parting words under the peach tree remind the teacher in each of us that our most important duties as cultivators are the promise to believe, the willingness to guide, and the wisdom to let go. Simply profound, Master Oogway, but not at all easy to do.
Well it’s been a little while since the last one and now the Transformers 2 trailer has been released and looks as though this will be the final official trailer before release.
In trailer you get a much greater idea of what is going on in the movie with regards to a few plot points, you get to see some new Transformers and also some confirmation as to the return of some from the first Transformers movie – no doubt this is the reference that is in the subtitle of the sequel, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.
Some of the locations being used in this movie look to be really good and contrast well with the desert and city locations of the first film, as well as the use of some more historic landmarks in the sequel. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this movie now after seeing the Transformers 2 trailer.
You can take a look at it below in standard definition; or click the HD button to see it in gorgeous high definition. What do you think to the looks of the 3rd and final Transformers 2 trailer?
Man of The Year is a good movie. It is a good comedy that you may burst into laughter many times while watching, but I also see it as a political movie that accuses the false democracy that are highly praised by American government. The director did a perfect job of putting some criticizes into the humorous scenes of the movie. Some people did not like movie very much because they are just looking for a funny movie to have “great fun”. They will probably dislike the movie, because it is not a comedy as good as great ones that are popular during the people. It is only an average work as a comedy. It is neither a perfect one as a political movie. But I still like it very much and recommended you to have a look at this one, because it turns the boring political into some humorous ways. I can easily stand before my computer to watch through the movie instead of walking away as I usually see a political movie. I think it is boring. But this one is different. Go to watch it, and I am sure you will like it too.
Gone Baby Gone is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. I haven’t seen a movie that makes me to think for a long time-always comedy and romance movies. Those movies are good too but not as good as this one. It leads you think in a deep and very profound way. Do the ends justify the means? That is the central question this movie asks. You may devote yourself to do something good but in a “wrong” way and you may be captured and put into prison for it. Is it meaningful? There are some other underlying themes that can enable people to think too-aged vs. youth, the nature of family. I think above all this movie shows how excruciatingly hard it is to make the right choices in life. Things are all complicated in real life. You may have several different decisions that can lead to different ends. Which one is your most wanted? You can never have got the answer before you make your choice and the thing develops. So you need to think a lot before any stupid behavior. But if you think it is worth, do not hesitate, just do it with all your effort. Go to see Gone Baby Gone. You will like it.
My Best Friend’s Girl is a good comedy that concerns two of the most popular topics-love and friendship. Most of people who have watched it say that it was a very unique romantic comedy. They enjoyed a good time in the cinema watching this movie because there were always some funny scenes that can lead people to burst into laughter. The actors Dane Cook and Kate Hudson did a perfect job in the movie. You could see them show up for the most parts of the movie, and they were always ‘making great effort to make you laugh’-I didn’t mean that they are trying to interest you. They just did what they should do as a professional actor. But we can enjoy a lot of leisure time through their performance. This made me think of Charlie who always evoked me to laugh heartily and happily. No doubt Dane Cook and Kate Hudson are great comedy actors too and I am sure they will always be good in the future.
For romance part, it is OK. Although it is not a big deal-as big as the love story in Titanic, I was kind of moved by the romance between the actors. When friendship and love coincided, what should you do? There is no right or wrong in love affair, the best thing you should do is to listen to voice of your deep soul, and then make the best decision.
Come and see the movie, enjoy a happy time. You won’t be disappointed.
I really like the Mummy series for its epic action, sense of humor and great special effects. I was very excited when I started seeing teasers for this sequel to be shown in July, mostly because it was quite unexpected.
This movie has all the required elements of epic action, sense of humor and great special effects. Of course there is still the swashbuckling hero Rick O’Connell played in grand style by Brendan Fraser. He undoubtedly has this action-comedy genre sewn up right in his alley. John Hannah is still around playing his brother-in-law, Jonathan, in his old annoying manner.
For the new stuff, the setting shift to China as the titular “Mummy” now refers to an ancient Chinese emperor who desired immortality, played by Jet Li (who really personified his anti-hero role with relish here). The emperor sought the help of a “witch” (played with much bravado by Michelle Yeoh), with whom he gets attracted to. However, the witch fell in love with his main general (played by Russell Wong, whom you’d wonder why he isn’t getting more breaks in Hollywood). From hence starts the conflict and the resultant curse on which the movie stands.
The requisite martial arts you would expect in a movie set in China are of course in full play. Very well choreographed, especially that thrilling sword fight between Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh. The exciting action sequences inside the booby-trapped lost tomb, the truck and chariot (!) chase in the streets of Shanghai and the final fight sequence with the “Mummy” are all executed very well as in the two previous installments.
But then there are the drawbacks that for me pulls this one down to a five star rating. The quality of the spoken Mandarin is at times unintelligible. However, the major beef involves what for me are severely miscast actors.
The actor who plays the now college-aged son of the O’Connells, Alex, looks too mature to be the son of Brendan Fraser. I just checked to see that the actor Luke Ford was born in 1981, but he looked older than that, so it was a bit of a stretch to believe that he is Brendan’s son. Furthermore, he also does not act like a son, but more like Brendan’s younger brother.
But the worst and damaging mistake was the decision to cast Maria Bello in the beloved role of Evelyn O’Connell, which is wholly owned by the more beautiful and credible Rachel Weisz. I felt absolutely NO chemistry between Maria and Brendan. Her acting was also quite wretched when compared to Ms. Weisz, who was able to maintain her intellectuality, demureness and gentility on top of her topnotch fighting skills. Ms. Bello fails miserably in this regard to recapture the unique character of Evie we have loved before, in my opinion.

Just funny enough to recommend, although other than some incestuous father-daughter sexual tension, there’s nothing particularly novel or memorable about this cliché-ridden variation on the time-travel comedy theme.
Remember the late ’80s? Back when there was a glut of movies about middle-aged people suddenly becoming young again? A simpler time when Vice Versa, Like Father, Like Son, and 18 Again! all played in theaters? Well the main character in Burr Steers’ 17 Again sure does, and he really wants to go back to it.

Iron Man is one of my favorite films so far last year. Jon Favreau has chosen the great actor Robert Downey Jr as the intelligent and flirty Tony Stark of Stark Industries, which is a good choice. I don’t think Gwyneth Paltrow was that good as Pepper Potts, but she did her best. Iron Man has an amazing storyline and loved it! I am going to be the first girl to buy the film tomorrow morning, I don’t care about the price I love the film too much. I recommend everyone else out there to get this film because it will really suprise you especially those who haven’t watched this film yet. A rumour(actually fact)that Robert Downey Jr has signed up for Iron Man 2, 3 and 4! Iron Man 2 might come out on the 30th April 2010. So we will be seing some more Downey Jr action then.
Catch And Release is a good movie. It is one of my sister’s favorite movies, and she strongly asked me to watch it, so I decided to check out whether it is as good as told. It turned out to be really great. I enjoyed it a lot and I thought it was really touching, and although some of the jokes weren’t very funny that I did laugh at a small amount. I liked this film and although I’m not a Jennifer Garner fan, I would like to see more of her movies now that I saw this great movie. It was really weird though, because it turned out exactly as what I have expected. It is a good movie that wouldn’t really make a huge impact on me. It wasn’t as romantic as I thought it would be also, and they tried to make it funny, which I thought it wasn’t going to be funny at all, just really touching and mushy. Well, Catch And Release was a very nice movie, I might even call it a little bit wonderful, but I would definitely not recommend it if you are looking for something romantic. It is an easy and light humor movie for the people who are willing to enjoy some leisure time in a free afternoon.
I have heard of Wedding Crashers many times before I see it myself. People who recommended this moive to me all said it was funny and quite enjoyable. I have some suspisions and then I decided to cheak it out myself. Finally it is proved that I would make a big mistake if I miss this film.
I was very much impressed with this comedy. The basic idea of this movie makes me laugh. It had a very good story line. It was about 2 guys who attend weddings for free food, and to meet girls. I felt like that I have met them before and knew the characters well when I watched the movie, which means that actors themselves did a good job of getting the personality of the characters out. But I was a little disappointed that the story ended a little harsh. It seemed that it is not a proper time to end there. I really expected more.
This movie is a must watch for any fan of what I like to call “easy comedies,” meaning you don’t have to think much. I would recommend this movie.
The 40 Year Old Virgin is really funny. It is so funny that I can not remember exactly how many times I laugh hugely when I watch the movie. It told a story as follow. Andy is 40, and he’s a virgin. He has a major toy collection, a good job, and is just an all-out nice guy. He’s just so hopelessly nerdy, that he has never succeeded with girls. When his friends find out about his celibate life, they set out to help him lose his virginity. They recommend that he hit on the most drunk woman he can find, but Andy doesn’t think it’s right. He sets his sights on a single mother, Trish, and when they start going out, Andy’s friends are proud that he’s going to finally do it. But Andy doesn’t care about sex. He and Trish form a no-sex policy.
This movie ’s actually got a good message, that says you can wait to have sex for as long as you think is necessary. There are some fairly serious moments. The trailers make it look like a dumb, vulgar, and random sex- comedy. But it’s not dumb. It’s actually so intelligent, that some people may not find it funny. But I sure did. The waxing scene and the poker game are my favorites. Also, this movie is filthy. Sex dominates every scene, and even when it’s not actually happening, it’s being discussed in the most graphic terms imaginable. The profanity is non-stop as well. It was however to see some good R rated comedies lately, and I hope for more to come.
Cars is a bad movie in my opinion. I enjoyed its funny storylines and lines between cars, especially the cute faces and gestures the cars show in some particular scenes. I’ve had a good time when I saw Cars: it’s funny, quite original and the story is good. I don’t like Owen Wilson, but Lightning McQueen is nice. But the director did a perfect job in balancing-almost every character has got its special moment. And there is a little detail I like best: the flies were cars too. But the very scene which made me laugh most was the cars gathering together at the cinema in the end. It was really funny there. I think Cars is a good movie for children as well as for adults who are look for some fun. Watch it if you want to cheer yourself up.
Babylon A.D. is a good movie in my opinion, although it is criticized by other people. I really enjoyed a good time when I watched it. Maybe because I have the different taste for movies, or just because the people like me they do not want to put their opinions on the net, I found little positive comments of the movie. But I would like to say what I feel, no matter what others said.
Babylon A.D. tells a story happening in the future when the world economy is on the edge of corruption. A man is hired to protect a girl who holds the key of the future. But some people would like to catch the girl, and even kill her and the man as well. So a fight which can decide the fate of the earth begins. It is a good story line as in many classic movies. The actors all do a good job, and the movie is directed well too.
In a word, it is a good movie worth watching, you should have a look if you are interested in heroic movies.
Norbit is such a movie that I was not expecting to see. In my opinion this movie is really bad except for the fat woman that is too much beyond my imagination. It’s surprising that a movie with so much comedic talent could make me laugh so little. Or maybe it isn’t and I’m overestimating Eddie Murphy. In any case, this movie made me laugh about three times: all of them from Eddie Griffin’s and Katt Williams’s lines. And this was at the end of the movie during the church scene. It took the entire movie to get to the humor. The rest is just badly constructed plot and fat jokes. But do you what the worst part is? Rasputia’s catch-phrase. Why would she have a catch-phrase? It’s like giving Jar Jar Binks a catchphrase; nobody’s going to quote cinema’s greatest reject, and nobody’s going to quote this. Don’t waste your time with this mess. It is the worst time I spent before my computer.
