A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire is a classic movie made in 1951. It happened in Orleans when the north which stands for the industry side rose and the south for the old landholder’s dismissed. The actress Blanche showed very impressively well-dressed firstly. She was on her way to move to her sister’s house and live with her sister Stella and her sister’s husband Stanley. Soon a conflict arose between Stanley and Blanche. After several secrets about her past had been revealed, Blanche was raped by Stanley while her sister Stella was in the hospital giving birth. But Stella, refusing to believe Blanche’s accusations, gave consent for the increasingly hysterical Blanche to be placed in a mental hospital in the end. This movie concerned with decline of the aristocratic family traditionally associated with the American South. These families had lost their historical importance as the agricultural bases of the Southern states were unable to compete with the new industrialization. To put it another way, they could not prevent the development of history, capitalism stands for a better productivity. It must conquer the one out of time. The people with the old tradition would go to dismiss too as the dismissing of their time. This is a good movie though made in early time. The conflictions and the plots were arranged well. Adding the wonderful performance of the actors and actress, it is undoubtedly one of the best movies in the history of American films.
